There are over 30 species of rhododendrons in Sikkim. The majority of rhododendrons' species colonize in altitudes varying from 9000 to 14000 feet, although certain species even grow at around 16,000 feet. The route to Dzongri, the mountain paths to the Singalila range Varsey and the Yumthang valley in North Sikkim are covered with rhododendron shrubs and trees, almost exclusively. Flowering from May to August during this period the hillsides in these regions are a riot of colors.

Early morning sightseeing of Rumtek Monastery-the principal seat of Karma pa out of Tibet and the largest one in Sikkim, and go to Kanchejunga View Point, Drul-Chorten , Sikkim Research Institute of Tibet logy, handicraft centers and check in hotel at Gangtok.. Evening Free to explore Gangtok. |

Departure from Gangtok in the morning for Lachung-North Sikkim. Lunch will be served on the way. Places of interest on the way are Tashi View Point, the historic Kabi Lungtsok, Phodong Monastery. Arrive Lachung. (Drive 123 kms/6 hrs). O/N at Lachung. |

Lachung-Gangtok: |

After breakfast drive to Yumthang Valley –the valley of flowers (1200ft.) through yak-graded meadows, carpeted with Primulas, lined by Rhododendrons and waterfalls. Visit the Hot spring. Back to Lachung. After lunch visit Lachung monastery, cottage industry of walk to explore Lachung Village. After lunch drive to Gangtok. Arrive Gangtok. Check in hotel. |

Early morning tour to Tiger Hill (at around 4 am) to view sunrise over mighty Kanchenjunga. The view is splendid on clear weather day. On the way back, take a look at Ghoom Monastery and the Batasia Loop. Afternoon visit to Himalayan Zoological Park (Closed on Thursday), Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Gumbu Rock site and Tibetan Refugee self-help (Closed on Sunday) Center Tea Estate.
