Rolwaling Khumbu Trekking provides an experience of the remote places near to the Tibetan border, west of the Khumbu region and just south of the magnificent Gauri Shankar Himal. In this region, we can find romantic mountain views, diverse flora and fauna and rich local culture of both Sherpa and Tamang people. Indigenous Sherpas call Rolwaling as ‘the grave' because the valley is so deeply buried between vertical mountains. The starting point of our trek, Barabise, is a large bazaar in the Bhote Kosi gorge. Our upward climb leads to the scattered white houses of Dolongsa, with its small gomba above. Next we pass through an enchanting forest, with many rhododendrons and followed by a steep climb to Tinsing La and the convent called Bigu Gomba. Several hours' walk beyond Chilangka, trekkers round a ridgeline and enter the Bhote Kosi valley, which has excellent views of the twin peaked Gauri Shankar. After Beding, we move on Yalung Ri Base Camp. And next day, we take a great opportunity for short climbs of Peak Yalung Ri (5463m.) and descent to Na in the same day. Then rest for a day at Na and explore the views over there. Conclusion day for the trek; is at Namche-Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu. |
