Lingshi Laya Trek route also take one upstream the Paro Chu along and pass the ancient caravan route to Tibet, through the valley of Seo, deep into the shadows of Mt Chomolhari, (7,300m) Mt Jitchu Drake (7,000m) and over Nele pass (4,250m) into Lingshi valley .The inhabitants of these two valleys are nomads subsisting almost entirely on the produce and products of sheep and yaks .The many lakes in Seo valley are every anglers wildest dream come true. Almost every cast brings in a fish, which can weight up to 18 pounds. At Lingshi the picturesque remnant of a once mighty, border fortress in now the residence of the valley administrator. From this hill a day` s trek is all it takes to cross over to the plateau of Tibet.
Heading East over the 3 high passes of Gobula (4,350m) Jarila (4,600m) and Shinjela (4,900m) lies the valley of Laya. Herds of the rare Tarkin can be see enrooted to Tsai Jathang valley. Laya lies in the Mo Chu flowing through Punakha. The in habitants of Laya as an ethnic group are quit different from the rest of the Bhutanese people. Like the people of Seo and Lingshi they too are momands (Yaks). Along the way down Phunakha, the old capital lays the historic Gasa fort and the famous and popular hot spring of Gasa.
Lingshi Laya Trek Itinerary
Day 01 : Arrive in Kathmandu transfer to hotel
Day 02 : Rest day at visit heritage traditional culture program
Day 03 : Flight from Kathmandu to Paro overnight at hotel
Day 04 : Full day at sightseeing in Paro heritage traditional cultural in the Paro
Day 05 : From Paro to Shana 2,800m overnight at camp
Day 06 : From Shana to Seo Thangtanka 3,520m overnight at camp
Day 07 : From Seo Thangtanka to Jangothang (chomolhari base camp) 4,040m distance 19km stop at Tengethang to see winter homes of Yak herdsmen. Close view of mount Chomolhari and Jichu Drake overnight at camp
Day 08 : From Jangothang (Chomolhari base camp) to Lingshi 4,150m distance 19km crossing Nyelela Pass 4,250m overnight camp
Day 09 : From Lingshi (Nyelela) to Chebisa 3,850m distance 14.5km. In the morning visit Lingshi Dzong after arrive at Chebisa overnight at camp
Day 10 : From Chebisa to Shomuthang 4,150m distance 17km cross Gobula Pass 4,350m overnight at camp
Day 11 : From Shomuthang to Robluthang 4,430m distance 14km cross Jarila 4,600m overnight at camp
Day 12 : From Robluthang to Laya 3,850m distance 29.5km cross Shinjela pass 4,900m overnight at camp
Day 13 : Rest day at visit traditional cultural mix with local people evening dances in the Laya overnight at hotel
Day 14 : Konar trek along Mochu River and then into forest where one can see musk deer, tarkin and various kinds of birds in the day trek
Day 15 : Gasa Dzong is an outpost fort guarding the trade route to Tibet down by the riverside is Gasa hot spring worth a dip overnight camp
Day 16 : Tashithang the trail follows the Mochu river through thick forest and passes via Gon village known for its folk songs and dances. The road to Punakha starts there
Day 17 : Khuruthang drive along Mochu river in to fertile valley of Punakha and visit the historical Dzong the seat of Jekhenpo and winter residence of the Drastsang, the biggest body of monks. Overnight at Thimphu
Day 18 : Thimphu drive to Wangdiphodrang, visit the castle and on to Dochula pass to Thimphu
Day 19 : Rest day at sightseeing for Thimphu
Day 20 : Flight from Paro to Kathmandu
Day 21 : Rest day at Kathmandu
Day 22 : Departure to your destination
